MSU Car Show: Massive Photodump 4/18/15

These are all the pics I was able to take this weekend at the biggest car show so far! And if I may “humblebrag”, these are probably the best pictures I’ve ever taken of any cars at any show EVER. And I used the phone I gave up using for an iPhone 5(and it can’t even take photos this good). There’s something for everyone here so ENJOY! :)

The first photo was us meeting at 6:45AM at IHOP before we all left for the show.

The main exotics everyone circle-jerked around for the first hour or so of the show. Funny story actually, the 458, C63 AMG, and GTR are all owned by some young guy who owns an exotic dealership in Lansing. He had his “friend” try to park the 458 next to the Gallardo. He couldn’t put it in reverse, and almost sideswiped the Lambo because he couldn’t see out the back; we all had our phones out watching this epic fail, and yet no one caught a video of it. I would have loved to share that with you all. :p

They said it was a near close tie of which cars had more presence: STs, or WRXs

First one of either of this I’ve seen in person, both were stunningly beautiful!

And then this badass piece of badassery showed up and one-upped every single car here; especially the exotics that everyone hasn’t already seen on the interwebs and the YouTube:

And this one was LS-swapped. I talked to the owner, he has the original engine and trans, but told me the LS was more user-friendly and driveable with the benefits of more power as well.

The nice fellow in this picture with his hands in his pockets is the guy in charge of the M1 Concourse(if you don’t know what that is, I strongly urge you to look it up!), and owns this awesome Turbo S. He, and the Countach owner restored some of my faith in humanity just by talking to him. He showed me that not all wealthy people are complete A-holes and he took the time to talk to me about cars, his past cars and just car enthusiasm in general. He’s also #60 on the list for the new GT and he’s on the list for the 488 GTB, not sure which one he wants yet though...

So how’s that for an awesome show! It was so massive in fact, that they had to turn some late arrivals away because they couldn’t fit anymore cars in the stadium lot without it getting outa hand; that’s how awesome! No doubt the turnout will be just as great or even better next year!

I hope to god the owner isn’t trying to pass this off as the real thing. It looks good, and could be admired for what it is. A nice replica.

I’m guessing he was, since you were fed the “I still have the original drivetrain” line.

He did say that it was an orignal Countach body though. Is that the same one from my pictures in the video? He also told me it was a tribute car as well, not an original, but I did forget to add that bit in.

Ken wasn’t even driving it! Some girl who mouthed off and said “GTFO out my my way” behind mine and some friends backs was driving it when we were walking down a line of cars. Unless you know who she is, honestly, she was acting like a total dick.

Literally, and I think I know a red GT500 with black stripes if I’m not mistaken, and a Steeda sticker on the front windshield. We’re walking down the isle of cars, we stop to look at some Stangs, and I see her driving that car towards us mouthing that off, I turn to look, and she pops a “girly” smile like “thank you”! Hell no, that was uncalled for.

I believe it’s the same one. Those exhaust tips, “E3ULL” front plate, the V8, that Italy sticker, and that the YouTube account is from MI are the six identifiers I used.

I could be wrong, but it smells of BS. You just can’t do an LS swap. You have to re-engineer everything in order to make it work. The output flanges on a Countach are at the rear of the engine while the transmission is in front.

With a traditional mid-engined layout, the output shafts are between the engine and the transmission, and the transmission is behind the engine.

I don’t even know where to begin to try to make this square peg fit into that round hole.

The “Tribute Car” words he said all make sense now.

I mean, you can LS swap 944s, Miatas, Fieros, 911s. As far as I’m concerned, anything is possile with engineering done right. The guy was rather old and looks like he had money, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the truth. He never once told me it was an original complete Countach either.

Unfortunately, neither of us are near the car/owner right now to get any more details.

Yeah, you can put an LS is just about anything, but that Countach (as well as the later mid-engined Lamborghinis) layout is so unique, I can’t imagine re-inventing the wheel unless it started out life as something else.

I’m willing to bet that the “original engine and transmission” look like this.
